DEFAULT NOTICES
More Santa Clara County homeowners received "notices of default" from their mortgage lenders in the second quarter of this year than during any quarter on record. The notices are the first step in the foreclosure process. Foreclosure activity in California also set a record.
Table shows the number of notices of default recorded by the various counties. The Bay Area figure does not include Santa Cruz County. Central Valley includes 16 counties.
